Two pieces of thin copper wire are wound about a nylon yarn in a loose spiral winding, the two pieces winding in alternate opposit directions. The produced thread of copper wire and nylon yarn is woven with another nylon yarn for weft to produce a weave. The loose weave is useful for a sponge cleaner which prevents inhabitation of coli because of the copper oxidizing nature. Besides, the copper presents better flexibility than stainless steel sponge, and the weaving with a nylon yarn prevents unraveling or breaking of the weave.
