The invention relates to a photodegradable staple for fastening down branches between two wires. It is produced using a photodegradable material whose composition is determined in order to obtain its controlled break-up after a sufficient period of time. It includes a notch 10 in the form of a "Y" which allows the passage and the momentary securing of the two wires. The photodegradable material used consists of acrylonitrile- butadiene-styrene (ABS), into which material a yellow organic pigment such as, for example, cadmium yellow, has been incorporated. It applies to the fastening-down of branches on fruit trees, vines, etc. <IMAGE>
