PURPOSE:To always obtain a good liquid drop delivery state by a method wherein a heating means is driven in a condition different from that at the time of recording, and after recording liquid is removed from at least one of a liquid path by a generated bubble, recording liquid is charged into the liquid path. CONSTITUTION:When an energy amount supplied to a delivery heater 203 is reduced to be less than that at the time of recording, a separated bubble 419 is generated from a main steam bubble 314. This separated bubble 419 is continuously generated. These bubble are immediately combined with each other to remove ink from a liquid path 201. The liquid path is filled with air and connected to atmosphere. Ink may be removed from the liquid path 201 in such an alternative method as the drive frequency of the delivery heater 203 is set larger than the delivery response frequency of a recording head in accordance with the adhering position of a stagnating bubble; the steam bubble 314 is combined with a meniscus 313 to remove ink at least from one part of the liquid path; and the liquid path is connected to atmosphere at a delivery port. After an ink absent state is formed in the liquid path in this manner, ink is again charged in the liquid path. |
