The feed system (1) includes a supply bunker (3) and transport system (4) which includes a ring main (5) with guided carriers (6) having cables or chains (7). The ring main has a number of inlets (8) for ration divider. Bunkers (9) which each also contain outlets (10) closeable by cylinder operated valve (12). The content of ratio divider bunkers is predetermined for the animals (2) e.g. a volume of 200 gm. Outlets discharge into a fodder trough (18). A cylinder (11) for the valve. is via a control line (13) connected to a control unit (14) in turn connected to a motor (16) of the chain drive (17). Each fodder trough has a detector (19) energised by a sensor (21) fitted to each animal.
