PURPOSE:To avoid improper follow-up traveling of an automotive vehicle attributable to the inclination of a road surface by providing a control permitting/ forbidding means by which the follow-up traveling control by means of an acceleration/deceleration device control means is permitted or forbidden on the basis of the state of inclination detected by an inclination state detecting means. CONSTITUTION:Inclination state detecting means 16, 18 for detecting the state of inclination of a road surface on which an automotive vehicle is traveling, and a control permitting/forbidding means 10 by which the follow-up traveling control by means of an acceleration/deceleration device control means is permitted or forbidden at least on the basis of the state of inclination detected thereby are provided. The state of inclination of a road surface on which the automotive vehicle is traveling is detected by the inclination state detecting means 16, 18, and also the follow-up traveling control by means of the acceleration/ deceleration control means is permitted or forbidden at least on the basis of the state of inclination detected thereby.
