PURPOSE:To properly maintain characteristics of delivering ink from each delivery port of a recording head to eliminate a deterioration in recording performance, such as irregularities in density or stripes, by providing a control means which actuates a recovery means after the completion of a recording action to clean the surface of a recording head delivery part using discharged ink. CONSTITUTION:Every time when a recording action by a recording head 7 is started or completed, a pump 4 is actuated with a capping means 10 brought into close contact with the recording head 7. In this manner, ink in pipes 5, 6 is pressurized; said ink is circulated under pressure again into an ink tank 1 through the recording head 7 and the pipe 6. At the same time, ink 2 is also pressed out from each delivery port 21 of the recording head 7. The ink pressed out of the delivery port 21 drains along a delivery port surface 41. At this time, the ink adhering to said delivery port surface 41 and foreign particles 31, such as dusts, are also washed out together. In this manner, this system exhibits a function as a cleaning means for the delivery part of the recording head 7. |
