PURPOSE:To reduce the consumption of ink by applying capping when a Q signal of a specific kind is received so as to decrease a required number of times of idle discharge. CONSTITUTION:When an EOM (message end) is sent from a sender side in succession to a picture signal PIX, the capping processing of a recording head is implemented. When an EOP (end of procedure) is received in succession to the picture signal PIX, capping is implemented immediately to the recording head to send MCF (message confirmation). When an MPS (multi-page) or EOM (message end) is received in succession to the picture signal PIX and even when a RTN (retaining negation) representing a line defect is sent from the receiver side, capping is implemented. Thus, the capping is implemented quickly in response to the Q signal (MPS, EOM, EOP or the lime) sent from the sender side. |
