<p>The invention relates to internal combustion engines and to crankshafts for such engines. The invention provides a crankshaft (2) having two gears (15) on the central webs of the crankshaft (2). The two gears in a preferred embodiment mesh with a driven gear means (3) comprising gears (12) which are connected by an internally splined spindle (8). In the preferred embodiment the camshaft of the internal combustion engine is driven from a gear (9) provided externally of the spindle (8) and drive for transmission to the wheels is taken by a quill shaft (4).</p> |
