The invention relates to a process for the preparation of a composition for removing paint coatings which comprises incorporating: a) a di-, tri and/or tetraethylene glycol, and/or dipropylene glycol, and/or at least one mono((1-4C)- or di(1-4C) ether, and/or an ester of mono- or diacetic acid, and/or an ester of the (1-4C) acetic monoether of the same, b) N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone and c) at least one surfactant, and is essentially anhydrous.
