PURPOSE:To obtain an alcohol or an aldehyde from a very dilute alcohol solution using a low energy by arranging a vibration member in the inside and equipping an ultrasonic machine unit accommodating the very dilute alcohol solution and tightly sealed. CONSTITUTION:Cavitation is produced by making a vibration member 20 ultrasonically vibrate in an ultrasonic machine unit 16 while supplying oxygen suitably adjusted, e.g. to some degree dilute oxygen concentration, e.g. by adding carbon dioxide gas to compressed air through a connecting opening 25 and a vaporized alcohol is oxidized thereby. The above-mentioned oxidation is remarkably promoted by cavitation to be immediately converted to an aldehyde and the generated aldehyde is accommodated in a liquid storage tank 33. In this case, a solid type catalyst may be placed in the neighborhood of a bumping- proof board 28 in the ultrasonic machine unit 16 for more complete conversion to the aldehyde. When methyl alcohol or ethyl alcohol is used as the very dilute alcohol solution 91, formaldehyde or acetaldehyde is obtained. |
