Material (I) for protective clothing, esp. for sea rescue suits for pilots, has a microporous, transparent and water vapour-permeable polyurethane (PU) layer (20) and an adsorber layer (30) (see Fig.1); the novelty is that PU layer (20) is attached to a first textile fabric (16) which forms an outer covering (12) of the suit, and layer (30) is attached to a second textile fabric (32) which forms an inner envelope (14); (20) is permeable to air and is on the inside (18) of fabric layer (16), facing inner envelope (14), and (30) is on the inside (28) of fabric layer (32), facing outer' cover (12). Pref. (12) and (14) are removably joined together with connecting elements (36), pref. made of Velcro (RTM); (12) is antistatic and/or oil- and/or water-repellent, and (14) is fire-resistant cotton fabric; adsorber layer (30) is covered with a tricot material (34); layers (14) and (12) are made separately, and the seams (22) in the outer layer (12) are sealed on the inside with sealing elements (26), pref. welded strips of polyurethane. USE/ADVANTAGE - The method provides mateiral for sea rescue suits etc., with excellent wearing properties and the ability to withstand compression and decompression in the cockpit (due to the air-permeable PU layer); the inner and outer layers can be taken apart and cleaned separately.
