<p>The invention relates to a high-temperature storage battery (1) which is bounded by thermal insulation (10) and in whose interior (1R) electrically connected storage cells (2) are arranged and held. The invention is based on the object of holding the storage cells (2) such that adequate cooling and heating of the storage cells (2) is possible. According to the invention, the storage cells (2) are embedded in a cast compound (3) or a large-grain loose material (3) in order to form a storage cell block (1B). Small devices (4, 6, 11) are integrated into this storage cell block (1B), or are arranged outside, directly adjacent to this block (1B) and in a thermally conducting manner.
