System making it possible effectively to remedy the effects of lining by using the image itself as temperature reference. The scanning mode is modified so that each detector of the linear array successively analyses two different regions of the image in the course of each cycle, and that each of these regions is seen by two adjacent detectors. In the preferred case of eccentric circular scanning, an epicycloidal trajectory is obtained for each detector (D3, D4) and by choosing the parameters, coincidences of regions (R3, R'4). It is thus possible to compare the signals relating to the same region and carry out DC equalisation, and possibly, equalisation of the gain, from detector to detector. <IMAGE>
