501,478. Moulding rubber &c. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AKTIEBOLAGET, and HANSSON, B. Feb. 24, 1938, No. 5849. [Class 87 (ii)] In moulding articles from plastic masses such as for rubber hose wherein the mass, in a hot condition, is subjected to extrusion, kneading or other treatment wherein heat is developed by friction, the mass, during such treatment, is cooled by a fluid kept at its boiling point by the frictional heat developed and so maintaining the mass at a constant temperature. The fluid may be water and may be heated, when required, by an auxiliary heater such as a gas flame or by electricity. The temperature may be varied by choosing a fluid with a required boiling point or the fluid may be arranged in a closed system and the pressure varied to vary the boiling point. |
