The water closet described has a shallow seat-bowl (3) mounted in the aperture (2) of a frame-like flush-bowl (1) so that it can pivot about a horizontal axis between its position of use and a flushing position. In the position of use, the seat-bowl projects out from the flush-bowl at the usual seating height. In the flushing position, the seat-bowl is pivoted back into the aperture of the flush-bowl, the floor (8) of the seat-bowl closing off this aperture from the outside. Only the flush-bowl is connected up to a flushing-water supply (10) and the flush-bowl has flushing-water outlet openings (11) located remote from the seat-bowl when the latter is in the flushing position. The bottom of the flush-bowl is connected up to an outlet pipe (13). In the WC disclosed, no flexible connections are necessary for connecting up the flushing-water supply and the outlet pipe, in spite of the pivoting seat-bowl design. The WC is flushed with the seat-bowl in the flushing position, thus ensuring that the seat-bowl, including the seat itself, is cleaned thoroughly. Only a small quantity of flushing water is necessary. |
