The sheet stream feed has a loading table followed by a rotary drum for feeding the overlapping sheets onto a feed table (4), with a cooperating sheet separation device (9) using a suction roller. The feed table has an associated conveying device operated intermittently via a sensor (23) for the sheet stack front edge. - The sheet separation device (9) has a projecting stop (22), contacted by the sheet stack front edge, adjacent the contactless sensorr (23).
