<p>A log feeding plant has a fixed frame (14), two parallel rollers forming between them a nip through which a log is to be fed in its longitudinal direction, and a support structure (4a) supporting one roller. In the plant is used an adjusting device (7) having a cylinder unit (13) which is connected to the frame (14) and whose movable member (15) is connected to the support structure (4a)to enable adjustment of the width of the nip according to the log thickness. The cylinder unit is a double-acting hydraulic cylinder unit (13) having an integrated piston-position indicator enabling fixation of the piston of the hydraulic cylinder unit in a carefully determined, desired position. The hydraulic cylinder unit (13) is clamped between a first and a second resilient means (16 and 17, respectively), which are connected to the frame (14) and against whose action the hydraulic cylinder unit (13) is movable in its entirety a short distance in a direction corresponding to an increase and a decrease, respectively, in the width of the nip.</p> |
