The windowsill has side flanges (7) fixed to it. A channel-section covering strip (8) of the same length fits over each flange, the length of its flanges (9,10) being at least equal to the height of the end flange. Spring components (11) inserted between the flanges centre the end flange, to which the strip can be permanently secured, typically by transverse bolts (14), which have some free movement in drillings (13) in the end flange. ADVANTAGE - Temperature variations will not cause the end flanges to come loose from the plaster.
