ACTIVE MATRIX TYPE LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY AND PRODUCTION THEREOF

PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for the formation of a producing device to a larger size even if the size of the screen increases and to make improvement in product yield by forming an active matrix circuit contg. switching elements consisting of a semiconductor substrate previously stuck with an insulating thin film as an operating semiconductor layer on the surface of a supporting substrate. CONSTITUTION:Plural pieces of modulates 4' each consisting of the supporting substrate 3 formed with the active matrix circuit contg. the switching elements consisting of the semiconductor substrate 1 previously stuck with the active substrate 11 via the insulating thin film 2 as the operating semiconductor layer are integrated by adhering the end edges thereof to each other. The arbitrary semiconductor substrates are usable in this way. Thin-film transistors having good switching characteristics are obtd. by using the single crystal substrate.
