<p>Hydraulic jump water displays and methods creating the same for creating an attractive and varying display are disclosed. In accordance with the method, water under pressure is expelled in the form of a thin sheet (44) across a substantially flat, approximately horizontal surface (36) bounded at the opposite end thereof by a very small dam (40), preferably water pool (26) therebelow. By varying the water pressure of the source (34), a hydraulic jump may be created in the water backing up from the dam (40), which hydraulic jump may be caused to move in either direction, with the water flowing over the dam (40), ranging in quantity from essentially none to a substantially surge depending upon the direction or motion of the hydraulic jump. Appropriate control (42) of the water supply pressure will generate relatively non-repetitive displays, various embodiments are disclosed.</p> |
