The carton has two rectangular side walls (3) and two narrow end walls (2). It is sealed by the overlapping flaps (6,7) which are hinged to the side walls. The carton is opened by removing the tear-off warranty strip (13) which forms part of one flap (7). A tear-off rectangle (9,10), attached to the second flap (6), is glued to the tear-off strip and is removed with it. The first flap is then pressed inwards and pushes an end flap (5) downwards so that a spout (8) is formed. When the pressure on the first flap is released, the elasticity of the flaps cause them to spring back to their original positions and close the spout.
