The clocked current regulator has an electronic switch (4) in its main current circuit coupled at its control input to a control circuit providing switching pulses of given repetition frequency and/or duration. The duration of the switching pulses is adjusted in dependence on at least one noise parameter the repetition frequency adjusted via a regulator (10,15). Pref. the duration of the switching pulses is adjusted in dependence on the input voltage (UE), pref. in inverse proportion to the latter. ADVANTAGE - Allows variation of switching pulse duration dependent on ambient temp.
