In a single-handed biopsy device (1) with a casing (2) containing a biopsy needle (41), a guide device (7) arranged to move longitudinally in the casing (2) and moving the shaft (43) and the tube (40) of said needle (41) relatively to each other and an actuating device (5) causing the guide device (7) to move in the casing (2), simple single-handed operation and accurate positioning of the tip of the biopsy needle (41) in the tissue to be examined is achieved in that the head (42) of the needle shaft (43) is rigidly secured in the casing (2) and the head (39) of the needle tube (40) is secured in the guide device (7) arranged to move in the casing (2) and located in its position of rest in a forward final position.
