A METHOD OF PROCESSING, STORING AND UTILIZING SHEETS OF ELASTOMERIC COATED CORDS A method of producing sheets (48) of elastomeric coated cords (40) for use in the building of laminated rubber articles such as tires is disclosed. The process eliminates the use of polyethylene liners in the manufacture and storage of the sheets. Composite elastomeric sheets are produced having cords (40) on one side and an unvulcanized elastomer (44) on the other side. The tack of the unvulcanized elastomer is reduced after calendering such that the sheet can be rolled up upon itself, without the use of a liner, and unrolled such that it will self-release. The above method is especially adapted for the manufacture of strips of sheets for use as overlays in tires.
