A splice for both ends of a steel cord conveyor belt has a steel cord insert embedded in an elastomeric material and consisting of parallel, longitudinal steel cords. At least some of the ends of the steel cords of the two ends of the belt are aligned in pairs with their front faces a longitudinal distance apart and are coupled to each other by means of longitudinal elastic elements which surround them. To ensure high transmission of tensile forces and a simple, rapid method of making the splice, each element consists of a tubular braiding (22) consisting of interlaced metallic and/or textile threads (25) and/or fibres. The space (21) between the front faces (23, 24), which is surrounded by the braiding (22), and the gaps between the stitches of the braiding (22) are filled with an elastomeric material. |
