The use of sulphur containing amino acids as represented by the general formula <CHEM> wherein n = 1-4 R = H, alkyl having 1-12 C atoms, or carboxylic acyl, or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, in particular N-acetyl-cysteine (NAC), for the preparation of topical compositions for the medical or cosmetic treatment of human nails. The topical compositions containing these compounds may be applied to the nails separately from or in combination with topically effective medicaments. |
