Bale-wrapping apparatus, comprising a turntable 112 mounting driven rollers for rotating a hay etc. bale about mutually perpendicular axes to wrap the bale in film drawn from a reel 125, is provided with film-holding and cutting means 130 mounted to the turntable for rotation therewith and adapted to hold the film adjacent the article during initial turntable rotation, release the film after said rotation, and to re-engage the film after wrapping is completed to cut the film and hold the film in readiness for wrapping the next bale. The means 130, comprising fixed and pivoted elongate clamping members (131, 132 Figs. 6, 7) is raised, on tilting of the turntable to discharge a wrapped bale, to cut the film supply and grip it. After subsequent loading of a new bale, turning of the turntable through slightly less than two rotations is sensed and a solenoidactuated release mechanism effects pivoting one of clamping member 131 from the other 132 to release the film.
