<p>A stabilizing cylinder (28) for use with a rough terrain forklift (10), comprising a frame (12), a movable member (14) mounted to the frame (12), an axle assembly (26) having a pair of ground engaging wheels rotatably mounted at its ends for supporting the frame (12) above the ground. The axle assembly (26) being pivotably mounted to the frame (12), and damping means (28) interposed between the frame (12) and the axle assembly (26) for damping oscillations between the frame (12) and the axle assembly (26). The damping means (28) including means (48-72) (such as valves, lines, switches, orifices providing a restricted flow passage) for varying the degree of damping provided responsive to the position of the movable member (14) relative to the frame (12). <IMAGE></p> |
