<p>The apparatus includes radiation detectors which are supplied with power via high voltage filter means and output a signal via preamplifier means. The outputted signal is supplied via a multiplexer 176 to a programmable gain amplifier 178 which includes a low pass filter for improving signal to noise ratio and gain means for quantifying pulse amplitudes within predetermined spectral limits. The output signal from the PGA is received by peak detection means 180 which converts the signal to a stable DC pulse for digitising by an A/D converter 184. <IMAGE></p> |
