PURPOSE:To obtain a multicolor display with a large-sized display screen by disposing colorless 1st polarizers on both sides of a 1st liquid crystal display element to constitute a 1st color liquid crystal display panel and providing a 2nd color liquid crystal display panel disposed with a 2nd liquid crystal display element on the outer side of the 1st polarizer and disposed with a 2nd polarizer on the outer side of the 2nd liquid crystal display element. CONSTITUTION:The liquid crystal display device includes the color polarizer 12 of a blue color system as the 2nd polarizer, the liquid crystal display element 13 of a supertwisted nematic (STN) type designed to develop a cyan color as the 2nd liquid crystal display element and the colorless polarizer 14 as the 1st polarizer. This device is constituted by including also the liquid crystal display element 15 of the STN type as the 1st liquid crystal display element designed to develop a yellow color, the colorless polarizer 16 as the 1st polarizer, the liquid crystal display element 17 of the STN type as the 2nd liquid crystal display element designed to develop a magenta color, and the color polarizer 18 of a blue color system as the 2nd polarizer and laminating the elements in this order. The production is facilitated in this way and the large- sized screen which allows high-duty driving is obtd. |
