PURPOSE:To obviate generation of an error even if an object to be measured moves or oscillates during measurement with a device for measuring the outside diameter of the object from the shade of the light of the object placed between a light projector and a photodetector by emitting impulsively light from the light source of the light projector. CONSTITUTION:A pulse light projector 2 is constituted of an LED9, a bar lens 10, etc. and a photodetector 13 is constituted of a cylindrical lens 12 and an image sensor 1. The decrease in the quantity of the irradiating light is compensated. Transfer gates 6a, b are disposed between a photo array 4 and shift registers 5a, b to constitute the sensor 1. The registers 5a, 5b and gates 6a, b are synchronized with shift register clock signals phi1, phi2 and a transfer gate clock signal phiTG. The signals phi1, phi2 are supplied by the number of bits of the register 5a, b or above to make idle feed after emission of the pulse light from the projector 2. The signal phiTG is supplied to transfer the accumulated charge of the array 4 and is outputted from the registers 5a, b by the signals phi1, phi2 by which the influence of the pulse light emission is prevented. |
