PURPOSE:To obtain an alkylate which is a raw material for detergents, etc. in high yield, by alkylating a(n) (alkyl)benzene with an oligomer obtained from n-butene in the presence of a perfluororesin-like high polymer as a catalyst as an olefin. CONSTITUTION:An olefin is added to a(n) (alkyl)benzene to carry out the alkylation. In the process, an oligomer obtained from n-butene in the presence of a high polymer, expressed by formulaIor II[n is 0, 1 or 2; R is F or 1-10C perfluoroalkyl;[X]n are -O(CF2)m (m is an integer 1-10), -OCF2CFY- (Y is F or trifluoromethyl), -OCFYCF2, etc.]and containing a polymer or copolymer of sulfonylfluorovinyl ether as a catalyst is used as the olefin.
