PURPOSE:To increase the processing speed of a printer by temporarily prohibiting the sending of the interruption signal from a printer engine to a controller when the generation of paper jamming is detected and storing the data sent from the controller in a memory means. CONSTITUTION:When paper jamming is generated, an engine 3 stops printing operation to generate an interruption signal and stops a synchronous signal to inform paper jamming to a jamming backup apparatus 5 on the basis of a status signal. A jamming detection means 11 sends a jamming detection signal to a transmission prohibiting means 12 which in turn temporarily prohibits the sending of the interruption signal to a controller 2 and holds printing as it is without changing the status signal to paper jamming. The controller continuously sends a dot signal by one page and the dot signal is stored in an RAM 10 as it is. When the storing of the dot signal is confirmed, the transmission prohibiting means 12 releases the prohibition of the transmission of the interruption signal to inform paper jamming to the controller 2. The controller 2 displays paper jamming and, when jammed paper is removed, the dot signal stored in the RAM 10 is sent out to the engine 3 to reopen printing. |
