<p>A construction of a combustion chamber (33) for an internal combustion engine comprising a substantially conical projecting wall member (37) which projects upwardly from the center of a bottom wall of a depressed combustion chamber (33) on a crown surface of a piston (2), a jet fuel inlet (38) extending downwardly from an upper end of the projecting wall member (37), said jet fuel inlet (38) being communicated with a sub-chamber (41) disposed below the bottom wall (37a) of the combustion chamber, and a plurality of combustion gas jet ports (40) which are open from the sub-chamber (41) toward peripheral edge of the bottom wall (37a) of the combustion chamber (33). <IMAGE></p> |
