Provision is made of a coordinate input unit that detects coordinate values of a position designated by input means on an input plane, and projection means which generates projection light according to a picture, wherein projection light of the projection means is projected onto the input plane of the coordinate input unit such that various pictures can be displayed on the input plane irrespective of the size of input plane of the coordinate input unit or the dimension of the coordinate input range. Input operation and like operations related to the displayed picture can be carried out without nuisance and can be easily confirmed even from relatively distant positions.
