<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a miniature computer input device which input data to a computer in the sense of using a writing tool by attaching a magnetic ball to the tip part of the input device together with the encoder shafts X and Y which revolve in touch with the ball and providing a magnet between the ball and both shafts in order to attract the ball toward them. CONSTITUTION:A ball holding means 32 can freely revolve a ball 11 attached to the tip part having an external shape of a pen in the optional direction. Then an X encoder shaft 23 and a Y encoder shaft 24 are provided to the means 32 and revolve in touch with the ball 11. A shift extent detecting means 27 detects the shift extents of both shafts 23 and 24 in their revolving directions. Furthermore the ball 11 uses a magnetic substance and a magnet 26 is provided between the ball 11 and both shafts. Thus the stable contact is secured between the ball 11 and both shafts and the revolving direction and the shift extent of the ball 11 can be accurately detected. In such a constitution, a compact computer input device is obtained so that the graphics and characters can be inputted to a computer in the sense of using an ordinary writing tool.</p> |
