PURPOSE:To obtain the title sintered body having excellent thermal conductivity, flexural strength, etc., and anisotropy, by blending specific two kinds of powders of hexagonal boron nitride having different particle diameters with AlN powder and sintering auxiliary in a given weight ratio and hot-pressing the blend in a nonoxidizing atmosphere while prescribing temperature and pressure. CONSTITUTION:Mixed powder comprising coarse powder having 2-100mum average primary particle diameter and fine powder having 0.01-1mum average particle diameter are prepared as raw material powder of hexagonal boron nitride. Then 20-80 pts.wt. of the raw material powder of hexagonal boron nitride is blended with 80-20 pts.wt. aluminum nitride powder and 0.2-5 pts.wt. sintering auxiliary (e.g. CaC2) and the mixed powder is hot-pressed in vacuum or in an inert gas flow at 1,700-2,200 deg.C under 5-50MPa. Consequently, BN-AlN sintered body having anisotropy of >=2 anisotropy degree of thermal conductivity and a higher value of thermal conductivity of >=150W/m.K. |
