摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To sufficiently maintain the particulate catching capacity by forming the wash coat layer consisting of beta-alumina compound oxide on the surface of wall part having numerous pores which forms numerous cells in the axial direction. CONSTITUTION:The honeycomb structure 1 of a diesel particulate filter DFP is made by laminating many wall parts 10 consisting of cordierite with a specified distance to form cells 11 between and both ends are alternatively closed with plugs 12, and exhaust gas is flowed through the wall parts 10 having numerous pores 10a from a lower cell 11 to an upper cell 11 to filter the gas to collect the particulate. The surface of this wall part 10 containing the surface of pores 10a is impregnated with beta-alumina compound oxide and baked to form the wash coat layer 2 so that soluble organic fraction, sulfate in the particulate are adsorbed and soot is caught in the pores 10a. Thus, the particulate catching capasity is sufficiently maintained even when regeneration treatment is carried out at high temp.</p>
