PURPOSE:To switch a job during online by always monitoring job classification information provided in a common area on a main storage device by a system start means to start a program. CONSTITUTION:Job classification information 22 to discriminate the job to be executed by a computer is provided in a common area 23 on a main storage device 1, and a system start means 21 monitors this job classification information. When job classification information 22 is rewritten, the system start mans 21 transfers the program, which executes the job corresponding to the rewritten job classification, from a secondary storage medium 2 onto the main storage device 1. The transferred program is executed. Thus, job switching in the online state of the computer or distribution/integration of jobs of the computer are easily performed.
