PURPOSE:To maintain satisfactory transmission control property and prevent a damage of riding comfortableness by changing the engagement/disengagement combination pattern of a frictional engagement means for setting a determined speed step during the gear change between other speed step and the determined speed step. CONSTITUTION:An electronic control unit E determines a speed step to set according to vehicle speed and throttle opening to control gear change, in which the engagement/disengagement pattern is selected according to demands such as advantageousness in gear change and small load torques of clutch means K1-K5 and brake means B1-B4 for a speed stage having various kinds of engagement/disengagement patterns, but an engagement/disengagement pattern accompanied by no change of gear ratio is changed during speed change. Thus, the acceleration or deceleration by speed change and the acceleration or deceleration by the change of engagement/disengagement pattern are joined together, so that, even if a shock is generated in accordance with the change of engagement/disengagement pattern, it is never bodily sensed alone. |
