The invention relates to a burner for a gas cooker for domestic use, which improves the heat exchange under the utensil to be heated and reduces heat losses. It is made up like a current burner in its lower part but its upper part has the shape of a cone frustum (or of a spherical segment) in order to allow the gas outlet slits to have an inclination such that the flames strike the utensil in the same way, regardless of the gas input setting. A second piece of apparatus termed "flow guiding device" in the form of an inverted cone frustum and equipped with wide air intakes in its lower part, sits over the burner, resting over a specially designed pedestal thus creating a flow of heat which is always directed towards the utensil. <IMAGE>
