Hybrid current limiter characterized in that it comprises a first winding (E1), made of non-superconducting conducting material, having a large number of turns, connected electrically in series with a superconducting coil (B) of low self-inductance, placed in a cryostat, and a second winding (E2) of non-superconducting conducting material with a low number of turns, the said second winding (E2) being coupled closely with the said first winding (E1), so as to obtain a low overall inductance, the said second winding (E2) being connected in parallel with the assembly consisting of the said first winding and the said superconducting coil (B). <IMAGE>
