A door seal 26 for a refrigerator or freezer 10 having a cabinet 16 which can be closed by a door 20. The seal is arranged between a surface 32 of the door and a surface 44 of the cabinet 16 and consists of an elastic profile with a hollow, closed cross section which in the relaxed state has a first shape essentially in the form of a parallelogram which points in a first direction and one side 30 of which is parallel to and secured to one 32 of the surfaces and the second and third sides 34 and, respectively, 36 extend essentially parallel to one another away from said one surface 32 and the fourth side 38 of which is parallel to the first side 30. During closing of the door, the fourth side 38 is caused by a surface 44 to move in its longitudinal direction so that the cross section passes through essentially the shape of a rectangle to another shape essentially in the form of a parallelogram pointing in a second direction, the second 34 and third 36 side being compressed on passage through the rectangular shape and the fourth side 38 being pressed against the second 44 of the surfaces, after which, on continued closing of the door, the second 34 and third 36 side expand somewhat and help to finally close the door 20. <IMAGE> |
