Rotary tool holder intended to support a standard chainsaw chain. ed invention relates to a supporting generatrix of a tool which can be fitted to a mechanical shaft to which it is secured by keys or splines. It makes it possible to use all types of standard chainsaw chain. The principle is a helical winding of the chain around the generatrix which may be in the shape either of a cylinder, or of a truncated cone, or of a bogie (dumb bell). Fastening at the ends of the chain takes place using a system of riders (4). The bottom of the cells (2) intended to house the driving links of the chain (1) is pierced with a cylindrical hole (8) going right up to the axis in order to allow the gouges of the chain (3) to be lubricated. This tool is mainly intended for the forestry industry for lopping off branches, removing bark or squaring off (cutting four edges) trees. <IMAGE>
