PURPOSE:To obtain the title resin useful as an optical material, having excellent optical characteristics, heat resistance, etc., by reacting a dihalogen compound shown by a specific structural formula with a phenol in the presence of an alkali. CONSTITUTION:(A) A dihalogen compound shown by formula I (R<3> is H, 1-6C alkyl or 6-12C alkyl; X<1> and X<2> are halogen) is reacted with a bihydric phenol shown by formula II (R<1> and R<2> are H or 1-6C alkyl; n is 4-8) in the presence of an alkali and a solvent to give the objective resin having a repeating unit shown by formula III and >=10,000 viscosity-average molecular weight. |
