ANTIREFLECTING FILM OF CHALCOGENIDE GLASS

PURPOSE:To obtain environmental resistance and the damage resistance to a laser beam by forming a film of a fluoride and laminating a film of chalcogenide glass of a two-component system consisting of As and S or As and Se thereon. CONSTITUTION:The film of the fluoride is formed on the surface of the glass and the chalcogenide glass of the two-component system consisting of As and S is laminated thereon. Namely, a film material PbF2 approximate to the square root of the refractive index of a chalcogenide glass fiber material is formed as the 1st layer. The film of As2O3 is in succession formed as the 2nd layer while the temp. at both end faces of the fibers is maintained without breaking the vacuum. Since the fluoride of the 1st layer is slightly inferior in the environmental resistance, the chalcogenide glass of the two-component system consisting of As and S or the As and Se having the highest environmental resistance is laminated on the 1st layer. The environmental resistance and the damaging resistance to the laser beam are obtd. in this way.
