NEW MATERIAL:Compounds of formula I (R is H, benzyl, methoxybenzyl or acetyl). USE:An intermediate for synthesis of glycosylphosphatidylinositol anchor (GPI anchor) useful as a bioactive substance and capable of production of GPI anchor in a high yield. Capable of providing a useful mean for biosynthesis of GPI anchor and for dissolution of the biological role thereof. PREPARATION:Compounds of formulae III and IV (TBDPS is tert- butyldiphenylsilyl; Bn is benzyl) respectively obtained from a known compound of formula II (TBS is tert-butyldimethylsilyl) are initially reacted and protecting groups are subsequently eliminated from the resultant product. From the obtained compound, the objective compound where R is H is then synthesized through compounds of formulae V, VI and VII (R<5> is H or Ac; R is H). ln addition, compounds of formulae III-VII are new compounds.
