摘要 PURPOSE:To make improvement in the reliability of the electrical connection between a hermetic case and an external electrode by joining the connecting conductor fixed to a metallic discharge pipe to an electrode end plug by an active alloy method. CONSTITUTION:One end 33a of the connecting conductor 33 made of nickel is inserted into a hole 32 of a central part. Since the eutectic point of titanium and nickel exists at 1,128 deg.K, the electrode end plug 31 and the connecting conductor 33 are electrically joined by the active alloy method by utilizing thin fact. The electrode end plug 31 constituted in such a manner is fitted to the end 12a of the external electrode 12. The several points are joined by Heliarc or TIG welding as shown by an arrow P. After the internal electrode and insulating spacers 15, 21 are combined, the case end plug 34 having the discharge pipe 36 is fitted to the end 11a of the hermetic case while the connecting conductor 33 is passed through a central through-hole 35. The inside is then evacuated from the discharge pipe 36 and a gas for ionization is sealed therein. The connecting and closing of the seal cut part are surely and easily executed when the prescribed position is crushed in the state of clamping the end 33b of the discharge pipe 36.
