PURPOSE:To determine whether the number of persons existing near the boundary of a main zone is one or two, by performing a detection both in a main zone and an auxiliary zone when an adjacent zone overlap-detection circuit detects that human beings exist near the boundary of the main zone. CONSTITUTION:The presence and the position of human beings in a main zone which were already detected with a detection element 15 and memorized into a memory circuit 19 by the output of a comparator 18 are inputted into an adjacent zone overlap-detection circuit 22 to determine whether a human being exists at the same array position of an adjacent main zone as viewed in extension of the main zone detected. The circuit 22 starts to operate when detecting the presence of a human being at the position in the same array and closes a normally open contact 22a while opening a normally closed contact 22b. The ANDing of the presence of a human being in the main zone and the presence of a human being at the position in the same array is obtained with an AND circuit 23 from a memory circuit 14 for auxiliary zone and the memory circuit 19 for main zone and the results are outputted to an output circuit 25 through an OR circuit 24. Thus, it is possible to determine whether one or two persons exist near the main zone boundary. |
