PURPOSE:To prevent the adverse effect by the end electric field of quadruple electrodes by supporting auxiliary electrode bars constituting auxiliary electrodes face to face at the end sections of the electrode bars constituting the quadruple electrodes supported in parallel with each other rotatably along their axes. CONSTITUTION:Ions generated by an ion source 3 and introduced into auxiliary electrodes 2 are roughly mass-separated by the auxiliary electrodes 2 then guided to quadruple electrodes 1. The ions diverged at this time are stuck and accumulated on opposite faces of auxiliary electrode bars 2a constituting the auxiliary electrodes 2 in particular. The auxiliary electrodes 2 are rotatably supported by electrode bars 1a constituting the quadruple electrodes 1 respectively, they are rotated by 90 deg. along their axes, for example, when diverged ions are accumulated on opposite faces, thereby new faces stuck with no diverged ions can be faced to each other. |
